Cincinnati Youth Choir Welcomes Daniel Parsley as a New Associate Director
The Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC), a nationally known performance and educational Ensemble-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory and Community Engagement, is excited to announce Daniel Parsley as our new Associate Director of CYC’s Voci Sonore changed voices male choir.
After 7 years of skillfully working with CYC’s young men whose voices were changing, the talented Jason McKee has stepped down as Voci Sonore’s Associate Director stating; “It was a very difficult decision because I have enjoyed working with Voci Sonore, and they have become like extended family. The decision was best for me at this point in my life as I turn my attention to my own growing family. I am excited to see how these young men flourish under Daniel Parsley’s leadership. It has been an honor to work for the Cincinnati Youth Choir.”
Parsley enjoys an active career in the Midwest as a conductor, scholar, church musician, clinician, and professional chorister. He serves as the Director of Choral Activities at the music department of Thomas More University and faculty for the Kentucky Institute of International Studies (KIIS) Salzburg study abroad program. Most recently, Daniel served as the assistant director and choral conducting fellow for the Cincinnati May Festival, where he prepared choruses for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and Cincinnati Pops. A Cincinnati native, he is currently enrolled in the Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in Choral Conducting program at the University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music (CCM). Previous education includes an M.M. in Choral Conducting (Bowling Green State University) and B.M. Voice Performance and B.A. International Studies (Xavier University). In 2019, Daniel was selected as one of four finalists for the 2019 American Choral Directors’ Association National Graduate Conducting Competition.
Parsley is also the Music in Worship Chair for the Ohio Choral Director’s Association. He serves as Director of Music at St. Timothy Episcopal Church in Cincinnati and also previously served as the associate conductor for Cincinnati’s Music Sacra. Daniel is an active member of ACDA, Chorus America, AGO, and NAfME.
