Phillip Webster – Program Associate

Mr. Webster is a musician, actor and director who’s performed in everything from Shakespeare to operetta to experimental puppet theatre. He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre Performance from Northern Kentucky University and an MA in World Theatre from Aberystwyth University where his research focused on the intercultural works of Stephen Sondheim and Rodgers and Hammerstein. 

Phillip stepped away from the arts in 2008 to serve in the United States Air Force. He spent four years working as an Arabic language analyst and is a proud graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. Upon leaving military service Mr. Webster received an MBA from the Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland, focusing on entrepreneurship and innovation in the creative sector. 

Mr. Webster returned to Cincinnati in 2016 and accepted a position working at the MakerSpace at the Cincinnati Public Library, while continuing his freelance career as an actor and director. In 2021 he founded the SouthBank Shakespeare in order to provide free outdoor Shakespeare productions to Northern Kentucky’s river cities.
