Cincinnati Youth Choir: Winner of American Prize, 2024

The Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) has won the 2024 American Prize in the Youth Choir Division, marking their second win in this prestigious national competition. This victory reflects the dedication of the entire CYC community, from its talented singers to its supportive families and staff. CYC previously won the American Prize in 2015, maintaining a perfect record in the competition.

New Cincinnati Youth Choir Leadership Announced

We are excited to share some important updates about the leadership team at Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC). Heather Vest has been promoted to Executive Director of CYC. In conjunction with Heather’s promotion, Caitlyn McGlynn has accepted the position of Director of Choirs and Education.

Cincinnati Youth Choir to perform UNICEF concert in DC - Movers & Makers Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Youth Choir has long committed to providing local, national and international opportunities to its talented young musicians. Later this June, that mission will continue when 30 members of its celebrated Bel Canto choir perform alongside the Young Naperville Singers (Illinois) and the Allegro Choirs of Kansas City in the nation’s capital. Overall, the groups will perform at least three performances in Washington, D.C., including “Songs from the Heartland: Youth Supporting UNICEF” on June 13.

Great News! The Cincinnati Youth Choir has just been selected as a finalist in the Choral Performance—Youth Choir division of The American Prize national non-profit competitions in the performing arts. The American Prize will be announcing winners in the division soon.

Celebrating CYC's 2024 Music Teacher of the Year!

Congratulations to Wesley Barnfield, recognized as Teacher of the Year by the Cincinnati Youth Choir.
On Sunday, May 5, the Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) concluded their regular season in front of a near-sellout house in CCM’s Corbett Auditorium. During the 5:00 pm concert showcasing over 200 singers, North Avondale Music Specialist, Wesley Barnfield, was recognized as Music Teacher of the Year 2024. The honor comes with a certificate of recognition and a $250 award for use in his classroom. Click on link to read full story.

Cincinnati Youth Choir to Receive $20,000 Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts

The Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) for a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000. This grant is one of few awarded to youth choral organizations nationally and will support CYC’s Cincinnati Choral Academy (CCA). In total, the NEA will award 1,135 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling more than $37 million as part of its second round of fiscal year 2024 grants.

Celebrated Conductor, Anthony Trecek-King, to serve as artist-in-residence for the Cincinnati Youth Choir 2024-25 Season

The Cincinnati Youth Choir, Ensemble in Residence (CYC) at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) is excited to announce that Dr. Anthony Trecek-King will serve as the program’s artist-in-residence for their 32nd season. Dr Trecek-King will lead the program with a new vision for the future. With support from the current CYC team, Dr. Trecek-King will help create artistic goals, creative performances and collaborations, and unique programming that will launch CCM’s resident ensemble into the future of choral music.

Cincinnati Youth Choir Founding Artistic Director, Robyn Lana, to conclude her outstanding 32-year tenure in June 2025

The Cincinnati Youth Choir, Ensemble in Residence at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), has announced that Founder Robyn Lana will conclude her outstanding career with the Cincinnati Youth Choir (CYC) at the conclusion of the 2024-2025 season, after which she will be named Director Emerita and will continue to lead and engage the alumni choir and network.
