Hello CYC FAMILY! Here’s a great update from Mrs. Lana!

Update – May 26, 2020

CYC Parent Meeting

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us on Tuesday for our parent Zoom meeting. It was so great to see your smiling faces!
Below you will find the recorded video of the meeting, which includes the Power Point presentation of our possible plans for the future.
After reviewing, please let us know if you have any questions or comments.

Parking Pass Credit:
We just received word that families who purchased a CCM Prep Parking Pass with an expiration date of May 31, 2020, are being offered an option of credit on account for future parking pass purchased through the prep department. To receive this credit you will need to click here to fill out their appeal form by MAY 31st. If you do not require credit, i.e., wish to donate the unused parking portion to CCM Preparatory, there’s no need to submit an appeal form.
Update – May 10, 2020
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

On behalf of the entire CYC staff, we would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your amazing support, flexibility, and participation during this unique season. You have changed venues at the drop of a dime for concerts and while we were apart you created a beautiful online experience through our “One Voice” project that has touched the community and the world with over 16,000 views and three local news broadcasts!
As we come to the end of our official Resident Choir “Season” we wanted to let you know how we plan to proceed through the spring/summer time-frame.

We will be continuing Zoom gatherings as follows, and then will host them periodically through August. Uniform/Music Drop-Off Drive Through & Pin Pick-Up
We really want to celebrate this season with you by giving you your annual participation pin. To accomplish this exchange and  to collect any music, folders, &  Bel Canto’s colored scarves and ties, we have set up a drive-through drop-off /pick-up party on Thursday, May 21st from 5-7pm at the following locations:
Mrs. Lana at her home: 5743 Lynx Ct. Mason, OH 45040
Mrs. Breeden at CCM Circle: 280 CCM Blvd, Cincinnati, OH 45221
Please note: all Piccolo Coro, Allegro & Vivace singers have turned in their music folders during our last rehearsal, so unless your child was absent or forgot their music that day you would just be picking up a CYC Season Pin for your singer at the drive-through event. If you have turned in your music already and prefer not to attend on May 21st, we will have pins available for pick-up at the office once we start face-to-face rehearsals next season.
If you are unable to attend the drop-off event, please mail our items back to the address located at the bottom of this email. Designated fees for unreturned music, scarves, or ties will be applied to your student’s tuition invoice, as outlined in our CYC handbook, for those who do not provide these items by June 1st.
Queen City Festival & Sing-A-Bration Cancellation:

Sadly, both of these events have been cancelled due to campus remaining closed and concern for our singers’ safety while attending a large group event. Sing-A-Bration refund options will be provided for any who have pre-paid.

We are still holding out hope that it might be safe for us to gather outside, and social distance separately by choir group,  at some point during the scheduled week of Sing-A-Bration ( July 27- Aug 1). As safety is our first priority, we will be in touch via email once we know more details either way about that opportunity.
Once again we would like to thank you for an outstanding season, your singers worked very hard and we are so proud of all they have learned and accomplished! We are still working through the ever-changing landscape of next season, but we hope to get you choir placement details out as soon as possible. Until then we hope you enjoy this fun 2019-2020 Season Celebration Video!
We hope you and your family stay safe and healthy until we sing together again!
Update – March 17, 2020
Dear CYC singers and families,
We miss you and your children. The Cincinnati Youth Choir takes the health and safety of our singers very seriously. This is uncharted territory for all of us and we will stay in touch as things unfold in the coming weeks.
As most of you know the University of Cincinnati has closed campus through the remainder of the semester. Ohio’s Governor DeWine has issued a ban on any gatherings of more than 100 people and has closed public schools through at least April 3 to help prevent the spread of the virus. And the CDC has just recommended that gatherings should be limited to 50 people for the next 8 weeks, which takes us through mid-May.
CYC is taking the following steps to keep our families safe:
  • All rehearsals and performances are suspended, effective immediately. This includes all Resident Choirs, Cincinnati Choral Academy, and ChoralQuest programs.
  • CPS Honor Choir is canceled for this year.
  • Queen City Festival (June 25-28, 2020) and Sing-A-Bration (July 27- Aug 1, 2020) are being evaluated as information and the reality of the virus unfolds.
  • The Canada Tour for Bel Canto and Voci Sopra has been canceled. Perform International is working with our vendors and advocating for our families to get as much money back from deposits as they can. At this time we ask our families to be patient and we will know more details about the refund amount within a couple of weeks. It most likely won’t be 100% of the amount, but PI is working hard to get as much back to our families as they can.
  • We are asking all Resident Choirs to hold the dates for Sing-A-Bration (July 27 – August 1). If it is safe to gather again then, we will create some kind of informal choir sharing to complete the year.
Our Artistic Staff will be sharing online resources in the coming weeks for our singers so that they can continue to work on the development of their musical skills as desired.
Join our CYC Parent Organization facebook group to continue to stay connected: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1056626731023985/
We have some creative and fun projects in mind and hope to engage as many singers as possible. These are meant to support. Not add to the online learning already being done for school.

In the meantime, we’re asking all CYC singers to wear your CYC gear on Tuesday, March 24th in a show that we are all together in this moment. Take a fun picture and share it on facebook, Instagram, or Twitter. Be sure to tag us in your photo and use #ProudtobeCYC !
The CYC staff will continue to monitor the situation to determine when it is safe to resume rehearsals and normal activities. Together, we will get through this difficult time. We will offer opportunities for singing and connecting through social media and online programs. We miss seeing all of you!
Thank you for your support,
Sincerely,
Robyn Lana                                                                   Lauren Hess

March 10, 2020

Dear CYC Family,
We just received confirmation from the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University that they will be will suspending face-to-face instruction/events as of March 14th. Since this will mean our March 15th concert will be canceled we are also canceling Thursday, March 12th rehearsals for Bel Canto, Voci Sopra, & Voci Sonore, and Friday, March 13th dress rehearsal for Allegro, Vivace, & Piccolo Coro.
If you have purchased tickets already for the March 15th performance you may call the CCM Box office at 513-556-4183 Mon-Fri between 12:30pm-6pm to receive a refund for your purchase. Please note the Box Office is closed March 14-22, 2020 for UC’s Spring Break.
Per UC’s current notice we are not able to hold rehearsals on campus again until the week of April 13th, but if we see an opportunity to get together to rehearsal in an off-campus location, safety permitting, we will try our best to do so.

We will continue to pass along updates as they become available so please keep an eye on your emails, our home page of the  CYC website, on the Cincinnati Youth Choir Parent Organization facebook page, as well as through our Remind101 texting app.

We are sorry for the inconvenience this may cause but we appreciate your understanding of wanting to keep everyone safe and healthy.
Sincerely,
The Cincinnati Youth Choir Staff
