The Cincinnati Children’s Choir has organized and will fully host WORLDSONG®, an international children’s choir festival. The event will enable the children of Greater Cincinnati, many of whom are unable to travel abroad or have limited experience with groups from specific cultural backgrounds, the opportunity to experience a variety of cultures representing three countries and three continents. (Taiwan,Venezuela, and US). The children will learn and perform music representing each country involved in the project. During festival rehearsals and performances, children will explore vocal production, timbre, style, and accompanying instruments representative of each culture while artistically exploring 2-4 part repertoire.

WORLDSONG® 2005 will be co-conducted by Robyn Lana, Founding Director of the Cincinnati Children’s Choir and Barbara Tagg, internationally respected children’s choir specialist and Founder/Director of the Syracuse Children’s Choir. Performances will take place throughout the Greater Cincinnati area. Individual choirs will perform in areas of the city that are easily accessible. As in WORLDSONG® 2000, WORLDSONG® choirs will perform at WORLDSONG® sponsor locations such as the Cincinnati Zoo and Paramount’s Kings Island. University of Cincinnati’s Corbett Auditorium will be the home stage for the event. The culmination of the week will be the Gala Concert where each choir will perform individually and collectively as the WORLDSONG® Choir. CCC has commissioned internationally renowned English composer Bob Chilcott to commemorate the event. Mr. Chilcott has composed a lovely, lyrical tune to be premiered at the Gala Concert, August 6. The music, which embodies the spirit of WORLDSONG®, will be published by Oxford University Press, London, England.
