CYC is currently accepting new members for Mid-Season (January -May 2021) start during our 28th season.

To audition please register your singer through the link below and we will send you a follow-up email with directions on how to submit a vocal recording for our conductors to review and place your singer in the appropriate choir group based on their current skill set.

Ensemble Descriptions and Rehearsal Schedules

Bel Canto Choir

CYC’s advanced touring choir is for singers in grades 6 through 12 with excellent vocal technique and strong sight-singing skills. Singers in this group are willing to commit to rehearsing twice a week, resulting in a prestigious performance and touring schedule.

Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00-8:00 pm – Mid-season starting 1/5/21

Voci Sopra

CYC’s ensemble for girls in grades 10 through 12 performs advanced repertoire and is designed for those with excellent vocal technique and reading skills. Voci Sopra will often perform exchange concerts with choirs from around the United States and/or participate in festivals.

Voci Sonore

CYC’s ensemble for changed and changing male voices. Choir members perform repertoire for male chorus and demonstrate music reading skills and good vocal technique. Voci Sonore is a growing ensemble that can be heard throughout the community.

Con Brio

CYC’s advanced middle school choir for singers in grades 5 through 9. Choir members are using healthy vocal technique, honing music literacy skills, and artistic interpretation skills. Con Brio is recognized as a leader within the CYC program. This group collaborates with choirs from across the region and U.S. and hosts the Queen City Children’s Choir Festival.l.

Allegro

CYC’s upper-intermediate choir for children in grades 5 through 8. Choir members are using healthy vocal techniques, are learning beginning music literacy skills, and are learning to read music in 2-3 parts. Allegro participates in choir exchanges with regional choirs.

Vivace

CYC’s intermediate choir for children in grades 3 through 6 who have demonstrated the ability to match pitch and who have had some vocal or choral experience. The children are introduced to basic note reading and elemental sight-singing, solfege, unison to three-part music, and healthy vocal technique.

Piccolo Coro

Children in grades 1 through 4 who have demonstrated the ability to match pitch are introduced to basic note reading, solfege, good vocal technique and elemental unison and two-part music through choral rehearsals, creative games, and activities.

Saturdays 10:00 – 11:00 am – Mid-season starting 1/9/21
